Our Neighbor

We met our neighbor, Mr. Qin and his wife in the elevator on our way home. They invited us over and we discovered that Mr. Qin is an accomplished Chinese folk artist who has had shows in Japan, Taiwan, the U.S. and Germany. Would be a great person for my dad to spend time with when my parents come here in October.

More Fireworks Photos Taken from Our Balcony

Since we live in the French Concession district and our neigbors include U.S., French, Iranian, Polish, and German Consulates as well as homes of the local Shanghai City government officials, fireworks were banned on our neighborhood, and we didn't have explosions directly outside of our windows. Still the noise was unbelievable and continued unabated from 9:00 p.m. to well after 1:00 a.m. Most amazing of all was that even with all the windows in our apartment, Liam and Tessa slept through the whole thing.
